It seems as though flipless (read F E C K LESS!) and irresponsible idiots (the ever burgeoning majority in the UK) can do what they please and be supported on all sides whereas the decent folk get trampled on at every turn.

Your mate made a good decision. An even better one would be moving abroad.
this is oh so common!!! parents come in cos kids have been punished for being naughty, parents kick off, heads back down. its all about threatening to sue and human rights!

the only rights kids should have is the right to be loved and a right to be educated. the PC crowd have gone too far and will now struggle turning it round.
I didn't say it was your ******* fault, I said I was blaming you!

With rights, come responsibilities - something parents seem to have forgotten about these days.

It is typical of our times in this country Scooby.

Children are encouraged to believe that their will is the single most important thing.

Teachers are bullied and threatened by a dysfunctional state and by dysfunctional parents alike.

I'm not a great supporter of strikes, but if I had to back any group of strikers it would be the teachers.

Teachers are simply shat upon - by the establishment and by parents.

It's so utterly and terribly wrong. Without good, decent teachers, what sort of a world are we heading for?

You've come right out the other side of the forest of irony and ended up in the desert of wrong.

if im honest, i was a little bit of scrote as a kid. never stole anything, never gobbed at adults, but had a few fights here and there etc. nothing major. i joined the army at 16 as there was nothing here for me, and i still stand by it being the best thing ever for me.

it gave me the right line and an attitude that i carry today. granted i know those whom it didnt work for, but i know it sorted a lot out.

i would happily support national service in this country. i learnt a trade and gained a purpose.

the only problem is that the army is now going soft. no more are they allowed to hit you, punish you, abuse you. all these things are needed to break you and making sure you think and do as you are ordered in times of pressure. current times and conflicts is a down side. there was only Bosnia when i was in, even Ireland was quite.

it would sort out many issues in this country IMHO and also provide opportunities for those who would just find themselves on street corners doing drugs and stabbing people!

(this may sound flippant, but it's not meant to be)

What we need is a proper, world threatening war where conscription is required.

Nicky G will be along in a minute to say it's just around the corner...

Well of course. I did a lot of things as a kid that make me cringe to think back on now. The casual cruelty to man and beast. The making of annoyance - just for the sake of it - just because we could.

Kids are basically pretty 'evil' in their natural state. By that, I don't mean that they are actually possessed by the Devil, or something, but that they don't know right from wrong.

Kids need parents (or other mentors) to instill the values of civilization, otherwise they are utter brutes, without care or thought for others.

It took thousands of years for humans to become civilized and respect each other. Maybe we had a 'Golden Age' of decency and are now emerging out of the other side.
