That's going in my 'All time favourite quotes' file.

Agree with you slightly, but I feel a lot of the 'professionalism' you see these days is naught but a thin veneer under which there lies a yawning pit of sheer incompetence.

You've come right out the other side of the forest of irony and ended up in the desert of wrong.

      Bit defensive eh?

Can you do a sysgen though, and edit the stage-1 output to optimise it?

I suppose it depends on your politics, but when the news said last week that Thatcher had been taken to hospital, my partner's first comment was, "Do we have a bottle of champagne in the fridge, just in case?"

I liked the Elvis Costello song 'Tramp the Dirt Down' at the time, but now it just seems puerile and tasteless. Easy target.

            Age matters!

Same as attitude and flexibility! Getting someone to do things when they are older requires a certain skill which a lot of younger executives may not have. It's like having an older secretary/PA, you'll think twice about asking her to do you a favour (I mean business, not of any other kind!). Older guys tend to be rigid and know-it-all, give you a headache when asked to finish a job by staying half an hour extra and always give advice even when they are not requested. Time is the essence in any high-pressure environment, the less you have to bother/spend time with someone, the more you can concentrate on your work.

                Oi! Blooming cheek!

Funny how we're all still very much in business tho.

But maybe we should have retired by now.

Don't get me started on punch cards now!

I'm 45 and in front office IB - Age has never been an issue but I don't see too many 55 year olds on the trading floor so perhaps it'll all happen soon.
...my quagmire of greed....my cesspit of laziness and unfairness....all I am doing is sticking two fingers up at nurses, doctors and other hard working employed professionals...

Is it if you ARE 40+ or LOOK 40+?

Luckily, due to wearing a wig and some cool surfer clothes at work I only look 39.
