I went there in the early 70's. Quite a posh school, possibly. Quite a few minor royalty personages were there at the same time along with some Portugese government ministers kids. Last time I went to Lisbon it was a building site - sucking up billions from the EU purse for 'redevelopment' work.
If you like cities then Lisbon (when not a building site) is a good one.
Good golf and beach holidays a small distance out west in Estoril and Cascais.
Public transport good. No need to hire a car really.
