They said "Shake hands with that goat, and if you do it properly you are in!!"

Though SC is nothing special it has got me straight through the door on several occasions and the rate is usually a bit better as well, the trouble is I'm on the bench and it doesn’t seem to be in much demand at the moment but I need to get another SC role to get it renewed… getting a bit panicky now.
Sorry - yes, you're right. Just checked my clearance letter and it runs out in October 2012, as long as I'm in an SC role.

If you leave the role (as per my earlier post), then it expires after a year from leaving the role, or the 5 year expiration, which ever happens first.

          When did they scrap it?

I got my clearance in October last year, and the letter says that it's valid until October 2012.

Wot he said... did not mean to scare you... 5 years while you're in SC environment. Get edgy if you're on the bench though...

Try reading "The thick bastards guide to Freemasonry - Fenian Bigots Special Edition" - you'll find the significance of the goat.

Hands up pants down you got me... still is 5 years while in SC role. I've been more proactive these past few years about the whole SC business as the roles I take a more commericial than defence, as I was used to, they pay better

Do you remember signing the official secrets act before completing the vetting application?

Good. Because guess what you've just done.
