I dont see why it shouldnt be reciprocal, except the demand for the system would be so low, it would hardly be worth the effort of setting up the system.

I suppose its just a natural severing of commonwealth ties. I guess its stupid that NZ and Aus share the same head of state as the UK anyway. The UK is more closely aligned with Poland nowdays.

Thats alright, I have my back up plan ready to go.

When the rules change Im just gonna say Im a muslim and seek political asylum anyways

BUT seriously folks...this speaks volumes about the type of people you actually want in your country doesnt it.

So you stop kiwis and criminal yobs and jarpies from coming here, the very people who not only contribute to society BUT also become an active part of that society, while at the same time take in every radical jihadi and their rabid dawg who porns themselves at heathrow with hardluck stories, while in reality they are here to destroy this society and replace it with their own version of a packet of raisins in eutopia.

Hmmm, come to think of it...who really wants to be part of that?

      Mailman

ps. This reciprical thing is a have, I would wager that those poms with kiwi grandparents actually have kiwi passports anyways.

        Sunnysan says

Well I have a UK passport now so I dont really care but this is insane.

Yesterday I read an article moaning about the brain drain in the UK.

So, lets look at the average profile of an ancestory applicant from the commonwealth.

        1) Proabably from a better than average socioeconomic background
        2) Educated
        3) English Speaking (No jokes about accent please)
        4) Skilled or having the potential to contribute to the economy

If you are on an ancestory visa, you have no recourse to public funds, and you have to work and support yourself. So I would imagine , unlike EU migrants the people on ancestory visas are net contributors of skills and tax.

Visa arrangements are not really about reciprocation nor should they be. They shoudl be designed to attract and retain skilled people for the benefit of the economy

To be fair, I suppose a points system will serve the same purpose. Its just all the extra hassle WTF come here? There are points systems in other countries too which may offer equitable salaries and better lifestyle.

I for one believe the whole focus is wrong. The severe public service congestion is down to EU migrants mostly and they cannot really take any steps to address that.

To make barrier for entry harder for Moldavan/Ukranian/Russian (ie non EU EE countries) and commonwealth seems to be a waste of time and window dressing. The real problem is EU migration IMHO and they are pwerless to do anything about it since the ceded power over these matters to Brussels
There are no evil thoughts except one: the refusal to think

How does living 12 to a squat in Shepards bush and supporting the wrong team in the cricket contribute to society!?

How is it relevant when, as I said earlier, Id wager that the vast majority, if not all, poms with kiwi grandparents probably already have kiwi passports anyway?
