Does anyone have a link with evidence of this statement? I am sure it would come in useful someday. How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.

Google doesn't - I searched for it earlier when the statement was made, but found no evidence of it.Originally posted by HairyArsedBloke View PostDoes anyone have a link with evidence of this statement? I am sure it would come in useful someday.Comment

You mean Dawn "Dim Prawn" Primerolo? The cheeky moo!! What does that make her and her colleagues then - a glorified bunch of prostitutes, and dishonest hypocritical ones at that, constantly soliciting money, for supposed favours that never seem to materialise!Originally posted by bogeyman View PostSuffice to say that IR35 (yes, remember?) set the tone for our relationship with the party in power. The Paymaster General, no less, compared us to 'glorified typists' and war was promptly declared.

Don't they have other areas where they could try and close 'loopholes'.
Is it just because they think we're easier to come after than super rich and big businesses?
Generally speaking Labour hates freelancers - they don't fit in with that nice socialist world which requires all workers to be helped as they are oppressed by those nasty rich capitalists.
Someone who is both boss and worker just does not fit in with that nice socialist viewpoint.Comment

It's not just New Labour.
Old Labour in 1979 stopped freelancers from being Sole Traders, suing an egency for millions (alot of money then). This started the whole Limited Company shebang.

It is quite permissible to make up quotes or anything else that shows New Labour in a bad light, even if not originally true it has a moral honesty that makes it true. She definitely did say that even if she didn't.bloggoth

I also read that she said that all contractors are "mere scum who should be exterminated, or taxed at 150% on all income before being chemically castrated". I read it on a forum.Comment
