So when was the last time that you made a romantic gesture ? - and I don't mean crude ones either.

Does anything about the way I post not point to the fact there is 0% female influence in my life.

Don't get me wrong I'm all up for doing thoughtful stuff and going the extra mile. Maybe when I find a chick worthy of such treatment I'll actually bother to do something.

As they say, its the little things that count. On a day to day basis, I'd say I'm pretty romantic, like offering to make her cups of tea, surprising her with a hot water bottle in bed, etc.

However, alot of the romantic things tend to be male-driven actions in response to the needs of women. I actually see valentines day as an excuse to spend what is essentially a days wages (Give or take) on something that I know I'll enjoy. Its a break that I know will leave me rested and relaxed, with no need to worry about work and the like. I get to enjoy a top-nosh meal, which I didn't have to cook, some-one else does all the tidying up whilst we can do what we want. The fact that she perceives all this effort as a romantic gesture is a bonus.

Oh, in response to the "why should the bloke book it..", my girlfriend booked the Tea at the Dorchester part. She's paying for all that. The company is paying for the theatre tickets and meal. I'm paying for the Hotel room.

As to why Valentines day, why not? If the statement of any day of the year is just as good then February 14th is perfectly valid. If you choose to not do anything on Valentines day, thats your prerogative.

Like I said...not riffing on you. Its a pretty cool thing to do.

What does get me angry is the expectation that blokes are going to or have to do something followed by the "why aren't you bothering you fazy fekwit" when you resond "nothing".

The truth is someone personal life is no business of mine so I am never going to blame someone for doing how they want. Just as long as they don't blame me for doing what I want how I want.
