Yes - but under certain circumstances.

Such as there being High def video footage of the incident and its so obvious what happened its clear they are guilty / not.

i.e. someone shooting someone else on the center spot of a packed anfield.

This takes us into a very grey area. Is this person more guilty than when there isn't high def video of them doing it? Why do they get a harsher penalty?

Could we turn it into a TV program? maybe with a phone vote to determine method of execution?

I would like guilt to be measured on a scale of 0-10. 9 or 10 get the death penalty. one would not like t make a mistake...

In principle, yes I would. However no innocent life is worth it, so on the basis that the cops have a history of occasionally getting it wrong. No, never.

If we had a perfect justice system and only guilty people got found guilty, I'd agree with it.

However, the risk of killing even one innocent person means I can't agree with it.

I agree with both - we don't have a perfect justice system and it's not worth an innocent's life.

                  Entirely against it.

Mainly because passing the death sentence on somebody means you have absolutely no hope for them, and I'd find it hard to say that, however bad they'd been.

The death penalty should be permissible for murder on condition that those associated with the killing, e.g. those that passed the law and the jury, are likewise sentenced to death. Seems only fair. This is a win-win scenario since killers get their way and they are removed from the remaining pool of non-killers. I admit that I may need to bone up on the definition of killing/murder/etc to flesh this one through though.
