Ah ! Bringing back the memories of the good old pre internet days when contractors had sneaky copies of the Telegraph crossword to help get them through the day.

The internet went down here for a few days, we were all totally lost.

The clue was "neither m nor f" so I was thinking it meant male nor female but could not think of a 6 letter word that fitted into _E_T_ _.

I was mistaken in that it was the 2nd last clue. The last one is:
