I've driven a focus a few times and generally speaking not a bad little motor, also Clarkson drives one around day to day and seems to be happy with it. Considering the things he has got to play with that's a endorsement all by itself IMHO.

I prefer the original MK1 Focus and believe it or not you can pick up a petrol one for around £1500 in good nick.
A 1.6 would make a great banger for the daily commute.
And all the while you can aspire to owning a Passat.Comment
