Mine is pretty old 6 years and has generally been cheap to run, However the cambelt and waterpump have to be done around 5 years as if they go its a new engine, and they seem to go pretty often looking around the web. I would usually take it to independent garage but having the cambelt and pump down at stealers as I get 2 years warrenty if it breaks.

with all those faults I'm guessing that the car is out of warranty, aren't there cheaper garages near you who could fix it?

Cambelt / waterpump is something that has to be done every 5 years on the engine, they are not broken but its best to replace. Engine warning light came on during the drive to the garage today couldnt f'ing believe it.

            Uh oh! The 'expensive' light!

I bet it's just your brake light switch. They often need replacing reguarly in VWs and Audis. Approx cost of replacement £7. Approx cost of fitting £loads

                  not forgetting:

                  new wiper blades

                  indicator bulb

and all the other stuff they replace that doesn't need replacing

add another 100 quid for parts

gotta be a day's work, 8 hours at 90 an hour 720 + the 400 for parts + vaaaaaaaaat and your looking at close on 1500 quid

                  nice one

                      Pop over to the Continent

How much would the parts (and service) cost in the Czech Republic, as a matter of interest MB? I have colleagues here with top of the range Mercs/BMWs/etc that regularly travel to Belgium for major servicing and save lots of money. Servicing your car here seems to cause more problems than fixes (possible spanner in the works?)
