I know somebody who wouldn't agree with that. He earned a mint out there until he got shot in the neck. He now has nothing from the neck down. It's quite sad as he was a really good bloke.
Rule Number 1 - Assuming that you have a valid contract in place always try to get your poo onto your timesheet, provided that the timesheet is valid for your current contract and covers the period of time that you are billing for.

    I preferred version 1!

that's the thing, amazing when agents call and say how much you want to go to a project in arabia, and it's like even if the rate is more than you can imagine, and you end up being the unlucky sod who is a victim of something then the rate is irrelevent

      all the best,

      Milan.

I don't think it ought to be blasphemy, just saying 'Jehovah'. Oooh! He said it again!

The rate in Iraq wasn't that good last year - I sent a job to a mate of mine about it. Oracle Financials implementation - paid about £1k a day, but it was in Baghdad.

The rate was only marginally better than the UK but it was all tax free, but I'd want more danger money than that.

Danger money? But even £5k a day wouldn't be worth it when you are 6ft under.

Ironically i would have been safer to go there if Saddam was still in power (and I don't mean from his hole in the ground!).

This involves possible relocation to a foreign land.
My question if anyone could direct me is..where can i find out about possible contracts in say dubia or iraq?
Ive heard stories that suggest a very healthy wage! but cannot find any info or direction to go in.
                Any advice would be great.

                Cheers

dont bother with Iraq - we will be seeing you in on the TV with 6 balaclavered blokes behind you reading from a hymn sheet.

ok thanks for all the replies guys, great stuff. I didnt realise the rates were average and that it was more effort than was initially relised. I had heard tales of granduer. I guess its a dead end!

                  Thanks guys
