Shoes
I wear either:
1) A good pair of Dr Martin shoes. Not the ones with yellow thread around the outside and made of hard leather but the more normal looking ones with soft leather. Very comfortable and hardwearing. They also don't slip on ice water or oil. About £60
or
2) Barker shoes. Details: http://www.barker-shoes.co.uk
from John Lewis. About £100+Comment

At what point does the average IT bod go from £200 brogues to £30 hush puppies? 40, 45, 50?Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave JohnsonComment

I have trouble finding decent fitting shoes. I don’t like high heels and my feet are too wide unless if I go for oversized ones. I’d like a pair that I can run in if I want to, don’t make me lean forward like a woman and don’t squeeze my toes into an inverted V. Shoes usually become comfortable after many months of being worn in, when the toes break out the sides.
It’s as if there’s a trade off to be made between comfort and style. For trainers and slippers the bar set closer to comfort, while for work shoes it's for style. And the situation is worse for women. How come a pair of £5 slippers are so comfortable and work shoes are so carp?
Do people really want heels that are an inch high or more at the back, are different height at the front than the back arching the back, too tight at the front and don't flex with the feet as they walk? That's what shoes designers seem to think we want as far as I can see.Comment

I always used to get those.Originally posted by s2budd View PostI wear either:

A size nine pair of Doc shoes would always fit, be comfortable straight away, and go with all my casual clothes.
I could just go in and buy a pair without even trying them on. Perfect shoe shopping for a bloke.
But the last pair that I got absolutely hurt like hell. I did a bit of research to see if I could find out what was different about them from the previous time that I bought a pair and found out that they are now being made in China. To add insult to injury the price has not gone down at all.
I suppose it is just possible that I happened to get a bad pair, but I won't be getting any again to find out.
