My brothers boss has said that if he had to pick between an Irish guy and a Pole he would choose a Pole 'cos he knows they won't mess him around....

I think it's the same in England as it is here..... it's too easy for the locals to complain and bitch about the Poles... they should get up off their fat asses and do thier jobs properly.... or in Kevs case... get a job!!

Oh my, I think I have just had a rant!!

Cailin, its not only Poles that are being treated like that, and this is not something new to England… All foreigners have to work twice as hard as English people and mostly get paid a lot less if not minimum.

      I disagree with that!!

There are lots of rich ones that have come into this country and got a ton of cash without really doing too much!!

We are discussing the ones who have got a job and had to work.. not the rich ones!!

However am really interested now... how did the really rich ones come and make lots of cash? Would love to know, only am not really rich, but you never know I may be able to do as well.

It's not what you know, it's who you know. All you have to do is donate a bit of cash to Nu Liemore and you'll get a few backhanders and the PM writing letters of support to help you increase your fortune.

Give the Poles etc. a few years of our welfare system and they will be sitting on their butts too. We need to change the system so long term welfare, other than for genuine disability, is not an option.

Turns out there are laws about that, there are minimum wages for various jobs the unions have agreed with the employers. That isn't the problem, if anything the Poles get paid more than the locals, the union has problems because they have a lax attitude to on-site safety.

So, how is it the Poles are getting these jobs? Apparently they tend to be far better trained, and more efficient in that the job is done right first time. Right first time is the major part of what actually what makes them so much cheaper to the employers.

                  Unemployment rates 2007

                  Poland 10%
                  Uk 5.4%

On the basis of those statistics which country contains more workshy, unemployables?

And how come those lazy, good for nothing, English contribute billions of euros through the EU to Poland (and Ireland, Spain, Greece etc etc)?

                    You're a bit simple aren't you?

Unemployment rates tend to reflect the availability of work as opposed to the employability of a country's workforce. Plus the UK unemployment rates don't take into account the millions of people who have been shifted onto incapacity benefits so our government can claim unemployment is lower than it is.

hehe. You make a good point about the true level of unemployment stu. But it just annoys me when another someone starts up another 'foreigners good, english bad' argument. We just hear too much of it imho.

I've actually worked with east europeans in eastern europe (hungary actually) and found that pretty much everyone over the age of 35 was as lazy as ****. Sweeping generalisation I know!

The real point is that desperate people make good employees. If your desperate enough cross a continent to look for a job then when you actually find some work your going to put a bit a effort in!
