My attitude towards illegal drugs and the drug culture can be summed up as follows.

    1. Anybody that believes taking illegal drugs is just having fun, Needs to grow up

    2. Anybody that believes taking illegal drugs is Harmless, has already destroyed too many brain cells to function properly as a clear thinking human being, and should be put down humanely

    3. Anybody that believes taking illegal drugs is a normal part of growing up, needs to seriously consider being sterilized so that they never have children.

    4. Anybody with children that believes taking illegal drugs is a normal part of growing up, needs to seriously consider placing their children in the care of a responsible adult.

    5. Anybody caught selling illegal drugs should be exterminated like vermin.

    6. Anybody who voices support for the illegal taking of drugs should be handed over to the relatives of those affected by drug use, to be exterminated like the vermin they support.
Confusion is a natural state of being

So you are saying that I should be killed? You'd like to kill me Diver?

Could you just repeat it for those who missed that subtle statement.

It IS another day - spill the beans immediately Alf W.

You seem to make big thing about alcohol. It is not comparable.

It takes a decade to become an alcoholic, yes some teenagers go out a few times a week and get blotto, and yes it is a problem.

At the beginning of the century cocaine and opium were freely available and got made illegal because they were too addictive.

If cocaine was available over the counter, as you imply should be because you equate with alcohol, I suggest there would be a much greater problem.
Cocaine and Ecstasy cause much more damage for less "kick". In other words you might not feel particularly high, but its f***ing your brain up.

              cocaine effects on health
Even a few months of excessive ecstasy causes longterm psychlogical problems, from what I understand it is actually a lot worse than coke.

Obviously if you take the odd tablet it won't make much difference.

I think it is comparable, if you look at the wider effects of alcohol consumption. And it can take far less than 10 years to become an alkie, if you drink excessively. Same with drugs - you guys seem to think that the occasional night of consumption somehow leads to instant addiction, whereas excessive use is the path to addiction, not recreational use.

But we been all through this already - just a rehash of the same debate over and over now. Let's just agree to disagree - I'm not going to force you to go try, and you're not going to force me to feel bad about having done it. I get where the anti argument comes from, just not the pathological hatred part that diver leaps into. People are people, whether or not they had a line or two of charlie, or a few beers, or a few sessions at the church and a life of teetotalism.

No I'm replying to you rehashing the debate over and over Snaw, you seem to post more than anyone and then stifle the debate with a "shutup".

Yes I agree that I completely disagree with you.

And one last point you don't have to abuse cocaine to have brain damage. That is the key difference, just moderate usage f*** your brain up.

If your child is drawn to a few drug taking folk at school, how do you think she will feel about talking to you about it?

Leah Betts died because she had parents with attitudes like yours and felt she couldn't talk to them when she got into trouble.

You've obviously got some strong views, possibly clouded/influenced by loss.

The fact is, kids get up to stuff they shouldn't. I'm not condoning it and I will strongly suggest to my children that they avoid drugs completely when they get to the age where it's a worry (long way off seeing as we haven't got any yet). But what I absolutely will not do is make them feel they can't come to me about anything by voicing anything like the puritanical views above.

I got into a lot of trouble as a kid when I didn't have anybody to talk to. Fortunately I never got caught but I'm pretty sure things would have turned out differently had I been.
