The non medicinal drug user is usually a person with little or no self esteem, fearful of facing reality and few if any real friends. they are often of low intelligence and try to pass off their failings as the norm.
I have no respect whatsoever for drug users of any ilk. they are all addicts, the difference is merely a matter of degree. once an hour, a day, a week, a month or just when partying. It makes no difference. if they need to take drugs to function as a normal person Ie. enjoy themselves, then they are addicts.
Note the term: "Enjoy Themselves" they obliviously do not enjoy who or what they themselves are, and therefore have to blunt or deceive their own minds in order do so.
They are pathetic creatures and deserve only contempt.
Is it a regular thing? I wouldn't have thought a 17 year old could be affording a great deal of coke at £40/£50 a gram?
anything <60 is bad for that
It's not 'cool' to be out your brain all the time - even if you're the best DJ on the circuit, what's the use if you're in the morgue with too many e's inside you..
I'd level with her - just say "Look - I know this may sound harsh but - pull yourself together FFS" Life can be thrown away as easily as it can be lived.
chose life - choose a toothbrush, choose .. and on it goes.
PM me if you want help - I've been there.

Whatever floats your boat. I'll stick with my side of this debate - they tend to be a bit less sanctimonious, and a hell of a lot more fun.
If you want fantasy, read a book or watch a film, it is not fun to watch somebody destroying themselves or putting their lives in danger by using drugs.
Sanctimonious ?
sanc·ti·mo·ni·ous (saŋk′tə mō′nē əs)
adjective
pretending to be very holy or pious; affecting sanctity or righteousness
In what way am I being Sanctimonious ?
My distaste, contempt and dislike for drug users, and my rabid hatred of drug dealers is not a pretense. I do not think that I am better than drug users. I Know that I am better than those pathetic excuses for humanity.

Certainly drugs are a form of escapism that suggests that life is not pleasurable without some form of mind altering substance to enhance sociability and pleasure.
I suppose most of us do it to some extent though - whether it is caffeine, alcohol or tobacco. All them react with the brain to induce feelings of satisfaction, pleasure, and thought to relieve stress and boredom and so on. However, when used in moderation, none of these substances are necessary harmful or can be proven to be (although some might not agree that cigarettes are not harmful).
It is certainly the case, though, that any person, not necessarily with an existing medical condition, can react alarmingly badly to all other illegal drugs though or any form of substance misuse from prescribed drugs - that's where the risks lay and why they are so dangerous to just about anyone. After all, until you start using them, you don't know just how your body is going to react. It's not just with problems associated with addiction and threat of regular use.
Someone I once knew had a brother who tried magic mushrooms - usually harmless to some, but this person reacted particularly badly to them and became schizophrenic as a result. We've read examples of people reacting peculiarly badly to hash or weed which can induce psychosis. E can cause instant death in some users, as can Coke with heart failure and other symptoms. The long term effects of these drugs are unquantifiable, even if taken occasionally. That's what makes them so dangerous and why they are and should stay illegal.
Methamphetamine (Meth) seems to be the biggest threat at the moment - and is particularly problematic in the US, in S Africa. It is easy to make at home from ingredients readily available in shops and pharmacies and it is cheap to buy. It is also instaneously addictive and few escape it's clutches without constant medical supervision and rehab. After initial use, when a euphoric high is experienced, it then completely destroys the dopamine sensors in the brain so eventually the user needs lots of Meth just to stop feeling depressed all the time.
The combination of drugs and peer pressure often results in one off experimental use of drugs to constant use and trying harder drugs. the book 'Go Ask Alice' is a case in point about an American girl who dabbles in a few pills and weed with schoolfriends at a party but tragically dies 2 years later, age 16 from an H overdose. Most H addicts started off on weed and pills and go on to try harder drugs. Christiane F is also a good read about a German H junkie who starts off on pills but ends up on H due to peer pressure and experiences many of her friends dying from ODing and reverts to prostitution to fund her habit. Luckily her family move away and she survives and is now clean. If you like Bowie, then buy the movie. DB actually features in the film.
