What is the latest model? The 'D'?
D is the latest, latest monitor is a pm4, but pm3 is just as good.

Don't bother with a model E, it's just ruggedised for gyms

C's are older and cheaper, circa £500 used.
    D's cost £700-£750 used

be careful on e-bay, new ones for sale at prices too good to be true, usually are scams. They normally ask for bank transfer and refuse to let you pick it up yourself

Why? Are you totally stupid? Cardio is what people are designed to do by evolution. What's your weight?

So by the sounds of it, a good condition model C is a good all round bet.

Why do you say that we are designed to do cardio by evolution? The typical energy usage pattern for hunter gatherers would be long periods of low activity with intermittent and brief periods of intense effort.

I have 7% body fat - that is without any cardio work in the last 2 years, only weight training (and a good diet). However I've done various sports/training since age 7, which helps I guess.

Sorry, I went a bit overboard there. The reason is I think people have become too soft. I think human evolution, as you say, was periods of lethargy followed by periods of terror (e.g. as they escaped the saber tooth tiger) . But the big issue is their diet was not processed food. It was raw veg and fruit with the occassional raw meat. Which is not a bad diet. If we eat what we do now, all bets are off.
And the more cardio you do the better, by all the research going. You cannot run enough (joints willing) IMHO.

I believe we can run down just about anything to exhaustion and are generally tough critters. I recall seeing a nature program where runners do just that. They literally run a lion or antelope to the ground and it can take days. [Mind you dehydration may also play a part, though it wasn’t mentioned in the programme]. The animal is sometimes dead by the time they catch up to it. Mind you those guys are probably closer to 8 stone than 16.
