A bit of both, which is why it's really good exercise. If you do it properly though, you should be knackered and sweating heavily. If not you're probably only toning yourself and could end with more weight (albeit better muscly weight).
There is no alternative to cardio to lose weight, that means running mainly.
BTW the good feelings you have afterwards are the natural chemical highs your body produces after exercise. It's a win-win situation
    Hard Brexit now!

This stuff is perfect if you are looking to tone but don't want to build a huge amount of muscle or aren't comfortable with free weights.

Pinsent held the world record, You're not Chasing the Aurora are you?
The court heard Darren Upton had written a letter to Judge Sally Cahill QC saying he wasn’t “a typical inmate of prison”.

But the judge said: “That simply demonstrates your arrogance continues. You are typical. Inmates of prison are people who are dishonest. You are a thoroughly dishonestly man motivated by your own selfish greed.”

I said team, have a look at the 1hr british record on the Concept II website mentioned earlier, it was set in 2001 rowing against Leander rowing club if I remember rightly. I think Leander came fired up the next year and retook the title but didn't break the record. The lads rowing for Royce's Gym were decent rugby players and good athletes. Most of the other records are held by Leander bods including Pinsent and I think Redgrave if you take look.

I've currently got the rowing bug. Just managed to get below 20 min for 5k.
Really starting to see the difference.
