Sometimes when permies get fired in hard times they bring in contractors during hard times.

There is an agent at Huntress, she is hilarious. A really good sort, we have good old natters all the time. BUt she is a damn good egg. She has subtly asked me for leads, and I have given them to her, as she is funny, has a good old natter about stuff before openly but subtly asked questions to get leads. She hasnt placed me with a role, but thats more due to bad luck and timing. Buty I do know for 100% sure that next time I am in a position to chose an agency to fill a role the client may have.. she would be top of the list.

To be honest I'm sick to death of agents after 10 years in IT I see them getting more deceptive and thicker.
Women seem to be the worst sometimes .. they just get emotional and spout out abuse down venom down the phone although some blokes will play the treachourous snake also .. I once got an agent almost crying in sympathy for me when I was on the bench .. then he wrapped up the converstion with "where are you interviewing ?" - scum the lot of them, I wonder how these people aren't scared of being next to useless in the real world.
Roll on the great depression and weed out the scum.Comment

... in my experience of 12 years talking to recruitment agents I have come to the conclusions:
- most never knew their father;
- a very, very few are nice people (and 2 of the 3 nice ones I have met are no longer in recruitment);
- almost all are utterly incompetent and know nothing about IT;
- a small minority are barking mad nutters and some of those are female;
- a small minority are barking mad nutters and some of those are male.
Despite my story about a female loon agent, I can do similar stories about male loon agents. I have been shafted right royally within the last 6 months by a male agent and screwed up by a female agent. And I don't mean in a sexual way in either case.
Differentiating such scum by gender is a pointless exercise. It is not their gender determining their actions, it is their lack of favourable personality attributes.
So there's not much point us fighting amongst ourselves trying to determine whether individual agents should go to Dante's 6th level of Hell or Dante's 7th level of Hell based upon their gender. Send 'em all to the 7th and be done with it.Drivelling in TPD is not a mental health issue. We're just community blogging, that's all.

I had an agent so peed off with me because I wouldn't sign a contract without having it reviewed by B&C that he went all mental on me. Sent me the following email;
There is no need to pass the buck on to me for your dishonesty. I had serious doubts about you when you started using ‘classic’ delaying tactics so I checked you out. A friend of mine from another agency called you at 3pm this afternoon and you said that you are on the market and you don’t have any offers on the table. The ****** market is a very small community and you have now blacklisted yourself from two of the most established ***** recruitment agencies in the UK, as well as all of their clients. Not a smart move!
Funniest thing was, I got a written apology and an a written assurance that no "blacklist" existed (from MD). Oh, and I signed with them, on the condition that I never hear from the tulip againRegards, J.Comment
