Where in Africa would you recommend, mostly South of the Equator? Galapagos also appeals.Originally posted by b0redom View PostI'd highly recommend an overland trip through Africa and a jaunt out to the Galapagos if you're flush. Staying out in the Galapagos rather than rocking up, getting on a boat for a week, and then leaving is really cool!Comment

Nice one! Since a 6 month period on the bench in 2003 I've worked pretty much non-stop since, 1 sick day, ave of about 2 weeks of holiday per year and now I am absolutely shagged and up to my eyeballs in work related bullpoo. Looking forward to a few months off and a re-evaluation of what is importantOriginally posted by phayes View PostHi All,
I have been contracting Ltd 3 yrs now and the reason i did it was to take more time off to climb around the world, the money is secondary.
So far this year I have had 3 months off and been to Turkey, Greece, South of France, South of Spain and about to go to Thailand for 6 weeks at Christmas.
Each time i finish a contract I negotiate time off before i start a renewal or a find a new contract when i get back and I still manage to save money and pay my mortgage.
I know one day I will get trapped by a women, but until then i am going to live a little.
Just excited about getting out of the wetlands.
P. :-)The court heard Darren Upton had written a letter to Judge Sally Cahill QC saying he wasn’t “a typical inmate of prison”.
But the judge said: “That simply demonstrates your arrogance continues. You are typical. Inmates of prison are people who are dishonest. You are a thoroughly dishonestly man motivated by your own selfish greed.”Comment

so many places...so little time...so much to do
should i save for a flush retirement or an average retirement, i know for a fact that when you get older your not as active and will see the world from a cruise ship and not living in the jungle.Comment

Went contracting after receiving a nice redundancy pay off, had a two week break between receiving payment and starting contract. Intention was to see through 6 month contract then see some of the world. Hasn't all gone to plan. That was 3 years ago. Took on a new misses, sold old gaff and bought a nice new house with double size mortgage!, now spending a small fortune on renovating place and working flat out on current contract!..Originally posted by phayes View PostHi All,

Hoping to go back to square one next year and take time out to do what I originally intended!

This thread triggered some sad memories – Fleetwood used to post a thread (almost every Friday) titled Contractor Lifestyle - anyone remembers those posts??… he used to brag about his comfy lifestyle his house with a acres of land a swimming poor in south of France --- poor thing had home troubles at the end, but I do hope he enjoyed his lifestyleComment
