So I take it you have never broken the speeding laws then?

Dodgy, that's like saying, it is alright for me to stab someone cos other people do it every day.

      Ban him (from driving).

I'll be glad when the government remove all forms of transport and we can all sit about at home on the social, whilst China and India make us rich.

I have points and should have more but they never followed it up (Severn bridge anyone?)

I agree that 'the rule of law' needs to be upheld although I also agree that speed cameras and fines are one hell of a moneyspinner for the govt and overused for the sake of raising revenue

I think they should differentiate between fines and points, 7-9 mph over the limit = fine, over 10mph fine+points, or something like that.

I'll happily pay a fine if I'm caught doing 7-10 mph over but lose my license because of over zealous rozzers who should be making better use of their time - tulip that!

No it is not, if you stab someone there is a victim, if you break the speed limit there is often no victim. Not everyone goes around stabbing people, yet everyone breaks the speed limit.

Look I do understand that you are all basically mathematicians. Mathematics has strict rules/formulae with specific, precise outcomes. The law is not mathematics and nor is the behaviour of human beings defined by anything like the rules that apply to maths.

so I am afraid that for once try and get your heads around something that is a bit different from how your brains normally work.

That philosophy is heading towards the attitude of "it's fine as long as no one knows about it. Or it's fine as long as I don't get caught.

As you say there is often no victim. However your actions are increasing the potential for creating a victim.

Btw I got a fine last sunday.

Agreed to an extent. I guess a mark has to be made in the sand at some point.

How did you pass your test? Blind luck? any speeding during your test is an instant failure, and yet somehow you managed to learn how to drive a car and pass your test (did you have 4 or 5 attempts?) all without speeding or hitting anything.
                    I passed 1st time!

I didn't speed during my test!

What I meant by my previous post was that I would rarely sit at 70 on a motorway. More likely to do between 80 - 90. Only 3% of road accidents happen on the motorway, and the limit hasn't been increased for a ridiculous amount of years even though cars are so much more effective these days, Breaking distances etc.

speeding is the only law that works in this way. "The mark" as I said earlier should be used as mechanism as part of a prosecution process for prosecuting people who drive dangerously.

I appreciate that there are practical difficulties and that one mans harmlessly breaking of the speed limit is another man's dangerous driving. The point I am making is one against these sanctimonious pillocks who wag their fingers at people who break the speed limit when it is something that is not necessarily anti social. It particularly irks me when I hear it coming from people who themselves break the law.
