The best place to live is one of the West/South West London "villages": Barnes, Sheen, Richmond, Putney, Chiswick.
Green, pleasant, nice neighbours, relatively crime free, doesn't feel like you're in a big city at all. And if you want excitement you can always toodle off to town really quickly.

I agree. Wouldn't consider moving from here.

I like the area, but to say it's relatively crime free is a stretch, I have a mate who worked compiling Police crime stats for that area and they were'nt happy reading. But compared to other parts of London it may seem low
I guess it depends how bad the area was you lived before.

I would agree with that. I guess the important part is relative to what. However I think the crime figures for those areas are certainly low relative to other parts of London.

BTW...fellow contractor just walked into the office from lunch to show me a photo he took on his mobile of a guy breaking into a car right outside the office in broad daylight. Mind you I am in a suspect area near Waterloo today.

Yeah, it does get pretty rowdy of a weekend evening, but further along the sea front there are some nice areas for a beverage without having to encounter hordes of braying p1ssed up w@nkers and their screeching harridan counterparts, aka hen parties.

Not good, but mainly limited to the poor areas. I like Fulham, Putney etc so nothing to see here

I was born in Coventry and still have family there and I CAN actually find my way around without resorting to sat-nav.
