Gayness - Nature or Nurture?

Why does discussing people's sexual preferences seem to interest other people so much ?
Is it because they want to gossip ?
To enjoy the act of feigning shock and casual tut-tutting (when perhaps their own sexual life would raise more than a few eyebrows ?)
Or is it because they aren't getting any themselves and they delight in the vicarious thrill of other people's ?
Has this board turned in to a peep-show as well now ?
The bottom line :
Sex is a private matter between 2 or more people and should be left at that.Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

But the judge said: “That simply demonstrates your arrogance continues. You are typical. Inmates of prison are people who are dishonest. You are a thoroughly dishonestly man motivated by your own selfish greed.”Comment

Nice Freudian slip
Besides, can you buy Freudian Slips at the local Gap ?Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. The student union offices at Essex university had a poster on the front door which read "Go on, become homosexual". Which implies that the trendy left, at least those who couldn't make it to a proper university, consider homosexuality a sexual preference and a matter of choice.Down with racism. Long live miscegenation!Comment

Or that homosexuality is the road to success, you'll become either a successfull actor, singer, musician, CEO or what have you. And without the encumberance of a opposite sex partner and children you'll be well off materialistically.
But I would still think its a bunch of people gone mentally wrong and should either convert or be shot. oops, I've broken the law again haven't I?McCoy: "Medical men are trained in logic."
Spock: "Trained? Judging from you, I would have guessed it was trial and error."Comment

It can't be genetic, otherwise people wouldn't suddenly decide to "swich sides", I think it's more likely to be psychological, or simply a question of having the opportunity to try something different and actually preferring it to what you already knew.Comment
