which "fook ups" were they? was it the strong economy that they needed to "put right"? was it the underfunded NHS that they poured more money into without it changing? was it the ridding the economy of state owned industries and the control of the unions? was it the healthy pension system that they "put right"? was it the fact that we didnt have a war that they "put right"?Originally posted by daviejones View PostLabour did have 18 years of fook ups to put right!!!Let us not forget EU open doors immigration benefits IT contractors more than anyoneComment

I remember a couple of recessions under the Conservatives, their big mistake was relying too much on the theories of Milton Friedman.
Then of course we have
Black Wednesday
Introduction of the fuel price escalator
Both of which have crippled the country for years
Labour are very like the Conservatives now, in so much as they are both parties of stealth tax, OK the Tories will reduce direct taxes more but indirect taxes WILL go up, VAT more than doubled under them.
Not to say this lot don't deserve a hiding too. But whoever takes over will sooner or later make exactly the same mistakesLast edited by Bagpuss; 2 October 2007, 14:09.The court heard Darren Upton had written a letter to Judge Sally Cahill QC saying he wasn’t “a typical inmate of prison”.
But the judge said: “That simply demonstrates your arrogance continues. You are typical. Inmates of prison are people who are dishonest. You are a thoroughly dishonestly man motivated by your own selfish greed.”Comment

Surely you'd go with the one you can make the most margin on?Originally posted by DodgyAgent View PostOn the one hand they criticise the concept of welfare and bang on about rights and responsibilities of the individual, aspirations etc etc. Then on the other hand they encourage more (wealthy) people to not have to work by raising the threshold on inheritance tax.
Who would you employ?
A Hungarian graduate who has worked his a***e off in a bar or care home, or the equivalent Brit with a trust fund who has just completed their second "gap year"
These hypocritical Tories really annoy me
mad

I fear you are right.Originally posted by Bagpuss View PostNot to say this lot don't deserve a hiding too. But whoever takes over will sooner or later make exactly the same mistakes
1. Sort out the economy
2. There are losers
3. Chuck money in the air hoping some of it lands on the losers
4. Economy is fecked again
5. Return to step 1.
Doomed (tm), etc.
