    I feel like handing in my notice...

    Been working with this company for about 6 months, they've just extended me another 3 months. The place is great, not far from home, good people, good hours, interesting projects, rate is ok etc...

    But there's one guy I have to work with who really winds me up. I worked with him on another project and he made a complete mess of the technical documentation (it was for a pitch which we lost). I had to re-write everything he wrote even though I'm not that technical. Now I have to work with him on another project where he's meant to be selecting a supplier. He's changed his mind about who it will be more times than I can remember and now has failed to complete the technical documentation on time.

    The problem is he's not an entry-level employee, he's the technical director of the company. I shouldn't have to micro-manage a senior manager. He takes no initiative and the quality of his work is crap.

    I've escalated the issues I'm having with him up to the board level, however it doesn't seem to be getting dealt with. I work really well with everyone else in the company so I'm sure it's not me.

    I have to face the client and really how can I say everything is going to be fine when I have no confidence that the company I represent is capable of delivering.

    So I'm thinking of handing in my notice.

    Any thoughts on this?

    duh!!! That's why they need a contractor ...

    Nothing like working with fools, easy peasy, flood them with compliments and be their best friend.. and if they are a director position then you've had it made...

    If the place is great, not far from home, good people, good hours, interesting projects, rate is ok etc... sheeeeesh what more do you want..

      This is where the problem lies. I have a feeling the project is going to turn to sh*t very soon because this guy has no idea.

      I really don't want to be around when the sh*t hits the fan

        Just be carefull this guy doesnt make you a scape goat for his/her mistakes.
        Keep a documented recod of everything that has happened then you can actually refer to your record book/diary with confidence.

            mate oh mate, my direct line manager is a contractor and everyone in projects and desktop support are always coming up to her for help lol they suck basically, plus if you move the same thing might happen but even worse you might be working with a diptulip like me!

                You'll never win an argument with a senior permie. I learnt that on my first contract. Since he's a Technical Director and you are mere contractor scum, there is no chance that you will win the argument by whinging to the board.

                Document what you have done, and hand your notice in, before you get stitched with the blame.

                  Seriously you have to learn as a contractor never to criticise permies, or invariably you are seen as the one who is hard to work with.
                  The court heard Darren Upton had written a letter to Judge Sally Cahill QC saying he wasn’t “a typical inmate of prison”.

                    If it goes tits-up, it's not your problem, you're a contractor. If they pin the blame on you, take it like a man (or woman), and move on. It doesn't affect your career, 'cos you don't have one.

                    Alternatively, punch him in the throat. I find that usually works. HTH
