Mine's actually filthy....the cleaners round here are a little lazy unforunately...
the phone is like it's out of 70's, an old CRT monitor...chair is cr@p as well...
When I started in 1986 in Johannesburg, the building occupied one whole city block, the atrium occupied three quarters of the ground floor, was six storeys high, and contained palm trees and a (six-storey) waterfall. The bog would have put a five-star hotel to shame, having ankle-deep carpets and a tapless faucet I had to ask for assistance to use because I couldn't work out how to turn it on. (I wasn't giving the sensor enough time to detect my hands - was the first time ever I had encountered such technology.)
I've never come across such luxury in the UK, maybe because none of my UK employers have owned gold and platinum mines.
Standard open-plan (but no windows) where I am now. Worst ever was at a Crewe based mobile phone supplier, barely converted old warehouse, temperature awful, rows of tiny desks too close together (people walking behind banging each chair as they went past). Chair so uncomfy I was in physical pain until my body adjusted to it. Toilets were 'festival' standard. Very long 7.5 months here, it worked as a stepping stone back into contracting but never again.
Makes you appreciate even a half decent office afterwards though.

I hope they never put ankle-deep carpets in the bogs here. A tiled floor might be cold but at least it dries easily when people miss the target (which they often seem to do).
Previously in a crappy open plan office in a badly converted industrial mill but I am now pushed out to an overspill 'office' with no windows, musty carpets and a fan for air con. It's probably illegal but the beady eyes of management are now elsewhere and I'm still collecting my daily rate for minimum fuss so I won't be complaining.
