I'd like to finish having to work full time in the next 5-7 years, that inc. paying off mortgages. I'll have 'other' revenue streams up and running by then that require little work, or can be managed by others.
SA says;
Well you looked so stylish I thought you batted for the other camp - thats like the ultimate compliment!
I couldn't imagine you ever having a hair out of place!
I'm nearly 45 and plan to sell up and move to the South of France when I'm 50. I might do bits and pieces of stuff just to keep my hand in, but plan to downsize; living off my BTL income with a couple of small plan Bs thrown in.
...my quagmire of greed....my cesspit of laziness and unfairness....all I am doing is sticking two fingers up at nurses, doctors and other hard working employed professionals...
I'm nearly cash-flow positive on a monthly basis without having to work. I'm going to contract in my dying skillset for however long possible -- probably 2 or 3 years at most. After this, I don't give a f**k!
At some point I would like to have cash-flow of £5k a month - but could take a while. I'm quite well diversified in terms of asset classes but I'm missing the most important one - a business. And no, I don't count a 1 man Ltd Co where I do ALL the work as a business... I mean a largely self-sufficient business.
It true about the family tho - i.e. when I was a yoot I would plan my "retirement" at 35, but soon realised that was impossible when wife and kids came along.
That was always the plan and partner and me have stuck to the investment plan through thick and thin.
In fact I could go now but the last few years will give me that last little bit of security and I’m quite enjoying being in a position of strength with agencies and clients in dictating where and when I will work.

50 seems so far away, but I know it'll come up like a sack of potatoes over the head.
Did you have kids to account for also? What was your investment plan?
My wife is good at saving & planning, but keeps going on about putting the kids in private school, which if we have 2 kids (1 at the moment) will be something like £20k a year!!
Private school is a waste of money. Move to an area that has good schools which you don't have to pay for. I went to a rubbish school, a crappy college and a poly turned uni. However, I'm sitting next to a person who graduated from Oxford.
If you thick your thick doesn't matter how much you spend on education.
Wife and I believe that it's also up to the parents to educate their children. Helps that she's also a brilliant teacher as well.
