Yes the Portuguese police have seemed incompetent all the way through but I think there's some clever psychology going on on their part here. They know they're cr@p and they want rid of this case asap and the best place the McCanns can be for that to happen is back home in England feeling alienated. So, up the ante, call the McCanns suspects, drag them through the mill a little more, and then let them go. Result, the police don't lose face in their local press, the McCanns will be only too happy to be on the next plane home this weekend, and in three weeks time the press will have lost interest and everyone forgotten about it. A sorry end to a tragic story.

What have the Portuguese police been doing to make them seem incompetent? I haven't been following it closely.

The Portuguse police have more evidence against the McCanns than the British police had against Barry George and look what happened to him. There is more is more evidence against the Royal Family kiling Dianna than both these cases. It just depends who you are and what lawers you can afford.

          From the Telegraph
Kate McCann has been warned she could be charged tomorrow with the "accidental" killing of her daughter Madeleine after Portuguese police directly asked her whether she was behind the toddler's disappearance.
In an extraordinary twist, Mrs McCann's family said detectives now believed she caused the four-year-old's death in their holiday apartment, then hid the body before returning a month later to dispose of it.
It was claimed tonight that police had offered Mrs McCann a "deal" of a two-year jail sentence if she confessed and told them where the body was.

I don't have a problem with Start Trek, doesn't mean I want to be a Trekky. Same thing really.

And who can judge what is 'honest' ? Do I lose my integrity when I judge someone else's.

Please, if you want to follow someone/thing, that is fine, my problem and point is when people start to preach and decide to interpret what they are following and tell others how to live the essence is lost.

A few years ago, my mrs got acquainted through the kids' nursery with a couple who were both doctors. Nice people. Thing is, when they went on long flights to Australia, they used to sedate their kids. Professionals you see. Knew all about drugs and had access to the right stuff.

I know that Kate McCann has specifically denied that they ever used sedatives on their children, but I suppose that's the obvious suspicion the cops are having - that they wanted to go out and have a nice quiet meal with their mates without the kids waking up and spoiling the evening. And two professional doctors, one of them a consultant, would probably have their careers destroyed if they accidentally killed their own child by giving her drugs. Quite a lot to lose there.

That would be the suspicion I suppose, crazy as it is.

I don't really see a problem with them going though due process, but I'm a bit uncomfortable with the thought that if it had been me who had been a little heavy-handed with the Calpol, I probably would have been happier not to make a scene across Europe and let it all quietly fade away...
