Where and what did you do/go during CUK holiday err downtime?

As for me its been a very fruitful and educational time I learnt about the following communities:

1- The No-Poo community: a nature loving society that decided to no longer using shampoo !! What?? I was horrified myself, but the more I read about the big shampoo players, and the number of complaints they receive the more intrigued I became – it seems big shampoo companies have been putting stuff in their products that produce the silky shiny finish only when using the product over a time period it cause hair weakness, breakage and baldness in some cases, biggest offenders are Pantene and L’Oreal ..eeeeek been using both for years, am not bald yet only I did notice that my incredibly thick hair has been less thick lately !! The society uses Bicarbonate of Soda and Apple cider vinegar for washing, milk of magnesium as a deodorant and lots of other tricks. Am not ready to go all the way and use BS and ACV yet, but think will be getting stuff from Lush who uses natural stuff in their products and all their products have an expiry date
    here is some links:

now guys I wonder how many of you can blame these companies for their baldness??

2-Palaeolithic Society ( I believe Gwyneth Partlow has been flowing concept since her data passed away) my original ideas about this were not correct, it seems one of the major concept is to eat only nature provided foods (meat veg and fruits) but not all these groups are suitable as a major indicator s if you eat the food item raw (uncooked) and it doesn’t cause you illness/death then its fine to eat. For example potatoes, one of these foods that you can eat safely cooked, however if you try to eat a raw potatoes it will cause severe illness and most likely death !! The same goes for most grains. The logic behind it is although some of these grains and veg that they are toxic to humans by nature, cooking them will help get rid of the toxins, however not all the toxins disappear. Anyway their clinical prove is that illnesses such as cancer has been traced back to Egyptian mummies (after the stone age when farming grains started to be used widely) however there is no evidence that people had any of these diseases e.g. cancers prior to the farming discovery. Again am not ready to commit totally to this diet, some of the forums had some crazy people who took the Palaeolithic concept to extreme and started hunting their own food – someone even posted photos of him skinning some hunted wild animals – eeewwwww

    Ok what about you?

Is that because he's started talking to them, or because he doesn't normally?

Took the kids for a bike ride along the Manifold Way in the Peak District. About 16 miles round trip. Was impressed with my 5-year-old who only learned to ride without stabilisers a couple of months ago but did the whole thing without flinching. LEJOG next for him I reckon.
