Winston was very unpopular post war. A good leader but not a good politician. Probably too honest.

Wasn't Gallipoli in WWI something to do with Churchill? A lot of ANZACs were killed there.

Churchill may have been our greatest asset in WW2, but the quote they gave me for my car insurance was just ridiculous. Went with Admiral.

Yes - the well thought out plan to "slice through the underbelly of Europe" by sailing through some heaving armed clifftops, and then setting up camp on the beach before marching slowly towards the guns in a line waving a swagger stick.

The Australian cricket team always stop off at Gallipoli on their way over to the UK for the Ashes.

OTOH, it's a great film.

Incidentally, I wrote to the BBC and asked whether they were really considering besmirching Doctor Who with Blair. The programme controller wrote a nice email back and said certainly not, no plans, etc.

So expect to see him as the new Master in the autumn...
