Flooding impact on contracting.

All the contractors where I work had two days off last week (unpaid natch) due to flooding. Wasn't too big a deal, but I imagine quite a lot of people must be losing out in Oxfordshire and Gloucestershire at the moment. Thinking of getting some kind of insurance for that sort of thing, especially as oil price rises start to hit businesses in the near future.

I think as long as the Thames Barrier remains down I will be safe. If they raise it I think alot of IBs will be under water.

I was told that there was no water and only intermittent power - so C & G decided to close their H/O in Barnwood, nr Gloucester. The city centre also evacuated, according to the news. Not sure what's happening tomorrow, anyone working there? If anyone turns up for work, they ought to get paid, unless specifically told not to. Should always suggest that you can work from home so that you still get paid in that case.

C&G in Barnwood is operating at 50% capacity, apparently.

The problem for me is where I live -- towards Windsor -- rather than where I work -- London. We have flood warnings in place and if it does happen then I won't be able to travel. I don't actually mind having a couple of days out but its a little annoying not being able to plan for it.

Working for an IB doesn't help either -- asking to work from home is a cardinal sin here.
