"The apparent effect of passive smoking on cancer risk has become an important social and political issue. It's not hard is it.
If you smoke cigarettes then there is scientific evidence that you'll gain a whole host of health problems, cancer being just one of them.
Given that smoking is inhaling toxic fumes, why would indirectly inhaling the same fumes without a filter not also give you health problems ?Comment

A lot of "claims" and "apparents" "indicates a positive association". rather than get into a pointless squabble with link and counter link I am not claiming that passive smoking does not contribute to cancer, I am merely saying that it is not necessarily a proven fact that passive smoking causes cancer.Originally posted by Let-Me-In"A study in the British Medical Journal this month said second-hand smoke claims more than 11,000 lives a year in the UK - much higher than previously thought.

My original point was that if you are going to ban smoking on the grounds of harm that it does to people that alcohol falls into much the same category (in my view worse). I believe that this banning culture is a hitleresque fad that is done for no other reason than to satisfy the personal problems/interests of those instigating and supporting the ban.
And you may be interested to know that the World Health Organisation that peddled the lie that cancer was caused by passive smoking is controlled by our friends the USALet us not forget EU open doors immigration benefits IT contractors more than anyoneComment

I'm glad to know you're so accomplished as to have mastered epidemiology as well as recruitment consultancy. Impressive, indeed!Originally posted by DodgyAgent"widely accepted" does not constitute hard evidence (as in actual smoking causes cancer). Like lemmings we accept these views that are foisted upon us by the vested interest lobbies (pharma companies who make money from patches) and the "controlling mafia".
I do not smoke and have never done so. I am delighted that the ban is going to improve my life. I also do not hunt and nor do I live in the country and nor would I endorse the killing of urban foxes even though they are a damn nuisance. Nor do I mind sensible legislation (about 1 in a 1000 laws fall into this category). What I object to is people who are intent on banning things for reasons that have nothing whatsoever to do with any objective reasoning.
Hard Brexit now!
