Originally posted by zathrasThis country is Christian for the most part, not Muslim so why is it that Islam is being treated any differently, why is it that Muslims can have a huge Mosque built especially for them (in what will be very valuable land) but no Cathedral or Church for the Catholics/Protestants, Synagogue for the Jews etc... The Olympics are supposed to be for all, not just some people.
Just because the Muslims want to build a mosque, and have the money to build one, doesn't make it wrong. If the church wants to build a new cathedral, then I suggest that they fund one - the CofE and the Catholics have plenty of money that they could spend on new buildings if they wanted to.Comment

White girls fit the bill. It happens, go to Keighley or Bradford.
To put some perspective on this, in 16th century Florence the young men had no outlet for their sexual needs as the girls were off limits and they could be lawfully killed for deflowering so they turned to each other i.e. homosexual practices. However when the Florentines lost one of their battle the city elders blame the effeminate young males and their gay practices for this. To put an end to this they opened up 300 brothels to make their men men again.

I think a large and beautiful building would reflect well on the area. Plus, having the largest mosque in Europe should be a source of pride.
But it would be nice if we could all use it (see my earlier post about mint tea and steam baths...only partly tongue-in-cheek). If it could only be seen as an accessible place for everyone, rather than a shady hang-out for apprentice terrorists.Comment
