I complained to a local supermarket manager today, I get fed up with having my money thrown into my hand as if I am the most diseased earth rim walker ever. Just place it on the counter love, I don't want to touch you either or look at your tache. BTW did you realise your husband hangs around (using loose terms) with white trash whilst you stay loyaly at home and only expose yourself to him.

you mean by them don't you? They ain't getting it for free.

Also, they own the land and have applied for permission to build a relegious structure on it. They've got the cash and a continuous supply of funds to keep it running - from the muslims which attend. So why not?

BTW: IMHO Christianity long ago left these shores. Don't use a crutch that don't exist.

It's the inequality of treatment and the way we seem to have become apologists for our own religion.

This country is Christian for the most part, not Muslim so why is it that Islam is being treated any differently, why is it that Muslims can have a huge Mosque built especially for them (in what will be very valuable land) but no Cathedral or Church for the Catholics/Protestants, Synagogue for the Jews etc... The Olympics are supposed to be for all, not just some people.

Even if one agree(s) there is a case for one Do you make it Sunni, Shia or whatever sect of Islam.

No, there is no case for any one religion to be be singled out for special treatment and therefore the fairest thing is that none are.

Can you give examples of where Islam receives special treatment?
I've heard this bandied about so many times but am not aware of any real evidence to support this assertion.

With regards the building of this mosque, my understanding is it is to be self-financed and not out of any public funds. As such, anyone could have purchased the land and submitted plans to build something there so why is the building of a mosque so contentious?

The NF and BNP used to regularily recruit outside Ibrox. Dunno if that's still the case.

They have been trying to crack down on that but it still goes on (my niece is involved in the anti-sectarian stuff up the road.)

To be fair, it used to be balanced up by some of the highly dubious fundraising outside parkhead. Very overt back when I had a season ticket but there still seems to be some guys flogging some idiotic papers.

It get's a bit tiresome, and given no muslims ever post on this board (Wonder why, plenty of muslim contractors around but a day in these parts would quite quickly signal what kind of extremists we welcome around here) it's mostly left unanswered.

On a positive note, this forum is spectacularly unrepresentative of anything either in our industry or society in general.

I've been waiting to see if anyone ever commented on the absence of asian IT contractors on here. On my last big stint in london the vast majority (80%+ I would guess) of the guys under 35 were asian and a good proprtion were muslim. These guys did not seem like the "enemy in our midst" or "soldiers of islam" or any other label. Some decent guys, some numpties - same as any other group in that respect. I asked one asian guy recently about these forums and he pointed out that they always get a few hundred vocal idiots that he didn't think were worth talking to.

On a wider scale, there was a poll on this forum recently that ended up showing 50ish percent would consider voting for the ubereejits. In the real world, it is under 1%.

There are real issues underneath some of the noise on here but the issues ain't the point.

IANA Shrink but I really believe that sounding of about "x,y,z bringing about the end of everything" is the way some blokes have always dealt with fear and lack of self-awareness. You could take random bits of crap out of here, change the name of the "problem" to whatever the feck was meant to be finishing us off at any point in the last few hundred years (blacks/jews/irish/giving proles or women the vote/the french) and it would fit right in anytime.

I love it on this forum as I have a really high stress gig at the moment and the crap on here either takes my mind of it or makes me feel that I probably ain't going mad.

God, I've had enough of toning things down for the online world.

Oh, and another thing, most contractors know they are freelance hired-hands and don't give a crap about the sanctimonious self-deluding pish spouted by the real-business twunts.
