Contracting in Athens

I've got an interview for a 6 to 12 monther in Athens next week. The rate is only about 60% of what I would earn in the UK but I fancy the experience.

Has anyone worked there (or currently working). What can you tell me regarding cost of living and tax implications etc.

if it's 60% less why not work here for 10 months and then go on holiday for 2 months.
