How long have I got Doc?
Years ago doctors would not even bother unless your BP was excessively high. A GP is not a specialist and everyone I know including myself; high BH was only a symptom of something more serious going on. Treating high BP alone is not the answer. My high blood pressure was ignored by doctors until it got to 230/140 (more like mains voltage than blood pressure) It is now fine and I passed the medical for commercial pilots standard.

I would strongly suggest getting your own monitor, preferably upper arm. You can get a perfectly good one from Lloyds for £9,99. (My doctor used to get different readings than me when he done it manually, but now he has gone digital he gets the same readings)

Lying down at home and relaxing will reduce blood pressure. Cut out coffee, (or max two cups) as it add 6 points on the pressure each cup. Cut out fizzy drinks as they have the same affect. Drinking a glass of red (only red) wine in the evening with your meal. Use no added salt and do not eat salty food, crisps are the worse.

      Cut out the following:-

      1. Having clients that employ retards
      2. A diet of deep fried pizzas
      3. Hard monkey spanking with a serious hangover
If you think my attitude stinks, you should smell my fingers.

Don't want to scare you but Radio 4 had a program about it a couple of weeks back and high blood pressure is the No 1 killer !!!!! It's a spartan lifestyle for you I'm afraid. Or you could just take the sod it approach. I've just been on an early 40s lads weekend and there was a book taken on who will be the first casualty, sounds like you'd get decent odds.

Salt is the worse cuprit. The govt guidelines of 6g/day are still way too high. 2-3 g is about right. The average in the UK is 10 g/day!!
          Hard Brexit now!

What samples do you have to give her next time? <snigger>

It's good that she caught it Troll - now you can monitor it, and make sure you keep it safe.

High blood pressure kills if it goes unnoticed, but you'll be fine if you take your foot off the pedal for a little bit.

Mine was sky high about 8 or 9 years ago (no idea why - I was very healthy at the time). It stabled itself out pretty quickly without me havgni to do anything.

Paddy made an interesting point about coffee- I'm not usualy a big fan but at work the tea is krap and adding up the used cups suggests I'm on 10 cups a day... see what cutting the caffine out does

Day two of my training regime and I have noticed that the buzzing in my head has gone completely. The pains in my upper left chest have subsided and my hands have stopped shaking. All because I do 60 press ups, a few sit ups and walk 3 miles at lunch time.
Oh and I stayed in last night, normally I would have gone out for ten pints and a kebab.
