    Cover Letters

    Do you bother?

I don't as I've taken the view that the agents rarely read them and just skip to the CV. If it was a recruiter for a company (i.e. they worked there) I might but I think this is getting less and less now.

So, do you bother or just write "Whats the max daily rate" in the cover letter field.

I always write a short covering email, even if it is only "Further to our telephone conversation..."

It sets the context, and I sometimes use it to highlight anything in particular that the client is looking for.

But if nothing else, it is the polite way of doing things.

      Cover letters are for permies
I remember the good old days of this site when people used to moan about serious contractor related issues like house prices and immigration. How times have changed!?

Yeah just a brief email is all I can be arsed with. Anything more is a waste.

Agreed. Agents won't be arsed with long emails.

            Example cover letter:

Here is my CV, don't bulltulip me and we'll get along fine

            Regards
            BP
The court heard Darren Upton had written a letter to Judge Sally Cahill QC saying he wasn’t “a typical inmate of prison”.

But the judge said: “That simply demonstrates your arrogance continues. You are typical. Inmates of prison are people who are dishonest. You are a thoroughly dishonestly man motivated by your own selfish greed.”

How about "dear p1mp. here is my CV. if you place me I will pay you £500. personally."

Or does a monkey(or is it a pony) make no difference to a p1mp?

I think it's a monkey. A pony would be cheaper though.
