there is a company I'm interested in possibly buying shares in, how do I find out if their listed, the company in a LTD. company not a PLC.

They won't be listed if they are still a limited, the P in PLC stands for public and means that any member of the public can purchase shares. However anyone can purchase shares in a limited if the company shareholders want to sell.
