Sounds like like you've been lumbered with someone with an overwhelming sense of inferiority and angst. People like this usually have some personal gripe about their own job but lack the balls to deal with it with their line manager. So what's the next easiest thing to do? Release their own frustrations by have a pop at people like you. It's just subtle bulling. You could try this response "If I want sh*t from you, I'll squeeze your head!"
