I must say, I hadn't given any thought to the underwear of prisoners before....but ewwwww!!

Let them have their own pants - its horrible that they'd have to wear pants stained by someone else

Its hardly the same as giving them plasma TV's or something - it's just pants ffs.

Poor barsterds - prison (in theory) is meant to rehabilitate you, not demorolise you to the point of loosing your own self worth...which is probably how I'd feel if I was forced to wear someone else's tulip stained pants!

I think the prison authorities are going to compromise. When they ask the prisoner to change the underwear they will brush off the skid marks before handing the pants over to their cell mates.

Hardly unreasonable to expect clean pants

3 pairs for a fiver in ASDA so thats £30 tops a year for each prisoner, They can wash them themselves twice a week in the prison laundry.

Problem is if they wear their own clothes there will be the drug dealers in Gucci & hard up housewifes in rags.
