I think the prison authorities are going to compromise. When they ask the prisoner to change the underwear they will brush off the skid marks before handing the pants over to their cell mates.Originally posted by SallyAnneI must say, I hadn't given any thought to the underwear of prisoners before....but ewwwww!!
Let them have their own pants - its horrible that they'd have to wear pants stained by someone else
Its hardly the same as giving them plasma TV's or something - it's just pants ffs.
Poor barsterds - prison (in theory) is meant to rehabilitate you, not demorolise you to the point of loosing your own self worth...which is probably how I'd feel if I was forced to wear someone else's tulip stained pants!"A people that elect corrupt politicians, imposters, thieves and traitors are not victims, but accomplices," George OrwellComment

Hardly unreasonable to expect clean pants
3 pairs for a fiver in ASDA so thats £30 tops a year for each prisoner, They can wash them themselves twice a week in the prison laundry.
Problem is if they wear their own clothes there will be the drug dealers in Gucci & hard up housewifes in rags.
I like Joe Arpio's attitude :

I think this fiasco will be a stain on the Prison Service.Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

Anyone else want to join me for a bit of role play? How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.
