I used to do a lot of long-haul flights crossing the Atlantic about every six weeks on average. Started in coach/economy but it was scaring me tulipless. I was always catching something. I just couldn’t handle it. So I only fly club or first now.

I am with SA on this one.

      I love the UK.

What I do not love is the increasing interference of Govt. and the punitive tax regime.
I do not love the chav culture and the obsession with fame and fortune without any effort.

The things I do not love are rapidly pushing me towards leaving my homeland for good.
I am not qualified to give the above advice!

I am. I love the UK. It is my home and want to be there all the time. I am happiest when I am there. Walking on the beech, flying my kites and buggying. Spending the day in the lakes (rain or shine) or riding my motorbike round the North of England or Scottish borders.

If you have been here a while you will have seen me defend England and Great Britain, particularly English/British food against a number of posters.

However. Even with the best will in the world my love for the place may not be enough to keep me there.
The downsides seem to be growing as I get older and I despair that it seems the lowlife scum and migrants have more say in how the country is run than the natives and decent citizens.
I see a way of life being undermined by politicians who are not interested in our best interests, but in the interests of staying in power or socialy engineering the populace.
I see no way to stop it and that makes me think of giving up that which I dearly love.
That is a damning endictment of the UK Government and culture.

I wish it were not so.

              LoneGunMan,

I agree with you wholeheartedly, took me some years before I realised the things you mention, and at the same time seeing how different things are abroad.

              Milan.

So where do you go to play bingo in SW19, Franco? Maybe we could meet up one evening for a couple of games?

Oh come on LG - thats a bit OTT isn't it?

Its just so theoretic! Its like you dont even live here, and are living your experience of life in this country through what you read in the papers.

Yeah there are a few things which could be improved on, but its not that bad!

"our way of life being undermined by politicians" - what real things do you actually mean by this?
"Migrants having more say in this way the country is run than natives" - again, what real things are you talking about?
I dont experience this in my every day life, so how do you?

I think the original poster has a problem with London not the UK, do you know that beyond the M25 there is a whole country out there? The further you get away in any direction you will notice how the air is cleaner and the people are more friendly... Go and explore you may be surprised!
Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave Johnson

I'm saving up and then I'm out of here in 5 years. Hate the place now - just earning my quids until an ICT undercuts me and then I'm gone.
...my quagmire of greed....my cesspit of laziness and unfairness....all I am doing is sticking two fingers up at nurses, doctors and other hard working employed professionals...
