You will soon have a PM

By the way, the place i've rented is on the Prinsengracht, in apparently not a bad area... (Its in the Jordaan towards Ann Franks Pad... I know its a long canal).

Also, Ive been trying to speak words as I read them on web sites when I am researching info etc, and I find myself having this bizarre combination of 'scottish' and 'german' pronounciation...

For example, achterhuis is mentally 'achter hoose'...

Better get signed up for some courses tout suite...

Dutch is fairly straightforward phonetically, you just have to learn how to pronounce the letters of the alphabet and it's easy after that. There's a few letter combinations that are a bit strange in the beginning but not too hard really.

I was told that the best way to learn the language (any language) is horizontally. Given that you are going to be in Amsterdam, lessons should be fairly easy to come by...
I'm not so think as you drunk I am...

Cheers chaps... sadly I have that predisposition to being embarrassed to speak outloud, even if I can understand, say, a written sentence... must overcome that...

You need to post this on a Mobile Texters Forum

There was a program on last week where Paul Merton travels around China, he checked into a hotel called 'Fawlty Towers' where the manager was called Basel and the waiter was called Manuel (both Chinese), it turns out that a helpful English businessman had told them to do it as a joke, the joke was completely lost on them and they had no idea why anyone would find it funny!
Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave Johnson

I foolishly called Norwich Union the other day for an insurance quote, got five mins into the call and tired of repeating myself, not being understood, and the very poor quality line, I gave up.

I wonder if they even care about the business they lose by these 'cost savings'.

This place seems to be recommended by expats as having helpful staff, and one of my dutch friends reckons it's not bad price-wise either. Volksuniversiteit, Amsterdam.
Oh, I’m sorry….I seem to be lost. I was looking for the sane side of town. I’d ask you for directions, but I have a feeling you’ve never been there and I’d be wasting my time.
