OFFS don't be so pathetic - eat less, excersise more - simple! You said yourself you are just being self-indulgent - no-one will offer you stomach stapling so just carry on eating all the pies and die early of a preventable disease or stop eating all the pies and have a healthy future it's up to you. To be honest I am beginning to wonder if you're a troll - surely no-one can be this self-obssesed. LB have you got another alter ego?

I tell you what john, I'm chuffed to bits you made that post - I've clearly had you sussed out correctly from the first week I joined. That has just proven it to me.

You're now on my ignore list.

9 pages of discussion on this?

There are a few people who have medical problems that lead to obesity - but that's a tiny minority.

        For the rest:

Losing weight = Calories in < Calories out.
Gaining weight = Calories in > Calories out.

Eat less, exercise more - it's the only way. Stomach-stapling will solve nothing.

          SA,

It is of course really easy to say eat less, do more - but reality for a significant number of people are that medical conditions can interfere. For me being on a high steroid dose and permenantly absolutely starving makes it challenging.

lockhouse mentioned private. Nuffield run a bunch of programs, some of these involve surgery - they advertise on the radio in fact. They also involve checking general medical conditions.

I always think that when I see a very attractive single lady.

                SA,

stapling is really a last option for those who are so obese their lives are in danger. From what I have read it is not pleasant, and you will never enjoy food again as even a moderate meal causes discomfort.

From what you have said about yourself I don't think you are that desperate.

I'm sure the solution is different in each case, but something that worked for a partner was:

                1) no forced exercise (forced gym routines are BS and don't last)
                2) eat as much as you want.
                3) so far so good.
                4) learning to cook good food every day (actually that was my contribution ... why is there no halo smiley?)
                5) good ingredients, comes naturally with 2)
                6) low carb not no carb. Very important, not crazy no carb like Atkins, but more like Montinac - check it out
                7) no junk food. No sweets, cakes, or biscuits (all high carb). No packaged food.
                8) That said, once it started working a square of high cocoa chocolate each night. It was that or cash in my life insurance.
                9) Talk about it with someone and don't avoid the issue for long periods of time. Friends, family, partner, whatever.

Takes a couple of years in all (if it takes ten years to put on, it will take mnore than 2 weeks to take off), but once it starts working even a little bit (after 4-6 months), you are in control because you know if you do certain things you have a predictable result - it is worth it.

Maybe not you cup of tea, but I have seen it work.

WE are most pleased with you sasguru, you have the makings of the most superior form of humanity, a chemical engineer. If you would like a 1957 copy of "Perry's Engineering Handbook", I would be most happy to sell you one. A snip at only £300 for complete spiritiual enlightenment.

Anyone who feels fat should come and work at the place I'm at to restore a sense of proportion. Good grief! I have never seen so many totally obese waddlers in one place. Actually, I cannot recall seeing even ONE person like that before I came here. I simply cannot understand anyone having so little will power.

I concur with most of above. SA, not sure how enormous you are, if not health threatening, forget it, you are not unnatractive, lots of us blokes just love bigger women. If a health problem, there is no substitute for will power, check out some of the horror stories before you waste money at some private clinic. YOU CAN DO IT!!

PS If not, and you get some fat women's bits sliced off, can you send them to me in a padded envelope marked personal? Ta!

                    Oh dear

Perhaps not the best time to have read this thread.

Sometimes I leave the tv on in the background while using the PC and by chance, while reading this, a program about this guy comes on:
