    You're scared of the dark?
    Yeah, absolutely. :-)
Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

There are schools of thought that claim that Second Life is not a game....

I know a few of the large system integrators are trying to build their internal skilset of Second Life up as more and more companies are looking to second life as another sales channel.

Might be something to add to your skillset!

Maybe you should take the tulipe out of your eyes dickhead. I said that people are considering SL as NOT A GAME!!

If you don't beleive me ask Google, there are numerous articles from FT, Guardian etc on SL and the amount of business that is being done there.

very funny episode, especially enjoyed the nameless "fat guy" mindlessly playing like the addict he was.

From what I understand of WoW, its more of a game, so there are objectives, things you need to do etc. Linden the company behind SL have really just created the 'world', and the underlying infrastructure (servers, etc) and then people are just left to do as they will in it.

In SL there is no real point or objective, its just there and you do with it what you will, much like the web. And with Linden slowly open sourcing their software it will be interesting as to how it pan's out. At the moment I think there is about 3.4 million people registered and 30k people 'online' now.

What interests me about these virtual worlds is how apparently some "players" have managed to amass substantially valued virtual assets, which they have sold on to other people for real money. For example, there was that guy who sold a space station in one of these games for like $1m.

I think I might enjoy making money that way...!
