    very sorry to hear this,

the news has put a cloud over my weekend

all the best Fleet my thoughts are with you

Never met you but shared many bored work hours
with you on here laughing everybody, everything and the world
    in general

    I remember once I was working on a sunday (there's a first)
and he was posting in between swimming in his pool at his
    house in bordeaux

see you one day Fleety, hopefully there is a Highbury Vaults
up there in the sky and we can have a pint of smiles together

    Milan.

Shocked and saddened. Fleety was a one off.
      Hard Brexit now!

Blimey, brings it all home doesn't it?

Very sad news. He was one of the old school, funny members of the board with interesting tales of French porn stars and previous conquests.

I liked him also because he had no genuine desire for IT and was always talking of doing something else, but he could only make money out of coding. Sounds familiar to us all I'm sure!

Last times I heard from him his seemingly idyllic Euro life was showing signs of strain on his marriage.

        Now he's gone. Bugger.

          Oh

What a tragic waste, someone who made life just a little bit better with his sense of humour and intelligence, I will miss him.

              Goodbye Fleetwood!

              You will be missed.

I have read many of your posts over the past few months and you have been a great contributer to this forum.

I guess no one likes to ask, because it seems no more than morbid curiosity, but jenever do you know anything about poor old Fleety's accident?

They have some crazy traffic laws in various European countries. For example, in Germany a parked bus or truck has the right to pull away after indicating, regardless of any vehicles passing. Also, in France flashing one's headlines means not "after you old bean" but "I'm flooring it and going through, come what may, because I'm a rude arrogant git!". I'm sure many foreign drivers have come to grief from an ignorance of these.

Then again, if Danny was based in Brussels [?] maybe he momentarily forgot a crazy Belgian traffic rule whereby side streets have the right of way over main streets (or so someone claimed in a discussion on this board a year or two ago - seems hard to believe even the Belgians would be that stupid).

it is correct that in Belgium, drivers coming out of small side roads have priority and I have seen it in action when driving to work, it defies common sense and as rules go is beyond stupidity

then there is that massive montgomery roundabout in brussels that has four lanes coming into it and out of it from each exit, unbelievable and daunting for even the nuttiest confident uk driver the first time you use it

                  very sorry about Fleetwood,

                  Milan.

Someone ran into the back of him as he was driving to Brussels airport. I'd rather not go into further detail, sorry.

Like many I never met him, but having known him on here since the old board it's difficult not to feel like it's someone you knew or, as a fellow expat here, that it's something not too far from home.

As bogeyman said, such things are a reminder of the transience of life, something we sometimes forget.

My condolences to his family and friends.
