    Did we do this one?

I see Mr Dolan relied on the "It was like this in the '90's" defense to reduce his penalty. I wonder how many of us would be allowed to use that?

"He did not check his 2013/14 return, arguing that he expected his advisors would do it and that the return “went in last minute”. He failed to obtain up-to-date professional tax advice before submitting the return."

Maybe it's because SA form asks the question - "Do you have a tax advisor?"

"Instead, the FTT found that Dolan did not take reasonable care when completing the return, and that the inaccuracy was careless."

    Seems like fair, reasonable decision.

What's not reasonable is to have 0% tax on dividends received by people who live offshore, the tax should be very close to what people in the UK pay, certainly so after certain high level because it's not like people who pay 45% tax get more of the Govt services.
