The government failed to take notice of experts and resulted in covid-19 spreading more. The experts being doctors and pharma experts say two shots of vaccine are needed, the non expert government minister thinks one shot is OK.

Do you argue with your doctor when he gives you a prescription?

"Pfizer Warns There’s ‘No Data’ to Show That Single Vaccine Dose Keeps Working After 21 Days

On Wednesday, the British government announced a shift in its coronavirus vaccine rollout that set it apart from the rest of the world. In a statement, the government said its priority would be to give the first vaccine dose to as many people it can, rather than focusing on giving people the required two doses in as short a time as possible, to give the maximum number of people some protection from the virus. However, according to Axios, Pfizer warned Thursday that there’s “no data” to show that a single dose of its vaccine will give people protection after 21 days. The drug maker said that two doses of its vaccine—separated by three weeks—is the only schedule proven to be 95 percent effective in its trials. The British government said that it will only guarantee people will receive their second dose within 12 weeks of their first, insisting that “completes the course and is important for longer term protection.”"

Surely that's breaking usage rules set by the manufacturer and it could put the product into disrepute?

They are going to wait 3-4 months then give the people who had the Pfizer vaccine the Oxford one as it is cheaper.

Yes, but I was lucky, I went for one reason and she spotted an unrelated secondary issue.

See, a little bit of knowledge is dangerous.

The vaccine is to train your immune system to recognise and attack the virus, the second dose is a booster which is common just like tetanus jabs or BCG.

Antibiotics kill bacteria in various ways (some block certain proteins others actually invade them and feck up the dna so they can't reproduce) and wipe out some of your gut stuff on the way. You need a dose long enough to kill all of the bug, but sometimes this isn't possible in immune compromised people such as transplant patients and you risk developing a resistant strain.

So you acknowledge that someone who doesn't know your medical history and may never see you again, may not realise they shouldn't prescribe something for you....

Yes you are correct, however, being part immunised could kill of a weak strain and let a strong strain proliferate.
