Same bet really, the only significant difference is gains / losses are greater on the Ether derivative depending on which way BTC moves.

I can't time the market, but I'm betting my upside will be stronger than my downside in the coming days & weeks.

Gold can be confiscated by Evil Govt (like FDR did it), but nobody will break Poopers' fingers to claim secret password to his TulipCoin wallet...

Evil Govt could criminalise holding, buying, selling or trading crypto if it wanted, as a measure against organised crime and tax evasion. Maximum 10 year sentence would dent the price.

Unless you want to move it around across borders and avoid confiscation - then it's BTC all the way.

How would the prove who owns what?

They don't need to prove it. Introduce a law making it mandatory to self-declare fairy-coin holdings and another law to allow the retrospective application of taxes against such holdings. Then wait.

Lots of crimes are hard to prove. But enough people would want to avoid breaking the law (for whatever reason) that it would be a killer blow to crypto. And some people would be caught when attempting to buy / sell / trade.

Tulipcoins should have been criminalised 10 years ago
