Thank you Tony, I will write an invoice for the last 2 days to the agency and remind them of the contract, if the client wants me to do more work then I'll negotiate other terms (higher rate), don't think they will accept, but hey, they are the losers in this.

Am feeling shattered now, the delayed effect is starting to show. I have an interview tomorrow, am worried am not going to do well because I am feeling very low and not confident .

No I don't, my mistake is to listen to the guy who asked me to send the email, I did actually explain the requirements both verbally an din writing to him, I should have told him to go through what has been sent and said already with his boss, not to directly write to a senior person out of the blue, or perhaps I should have made it clear in my email that I was asked to forward these for him to clarify the situation. I agree its a silly error and I wouldn't have thought I deserved the sack for it, but you know there are people who are so full of themselves and their self importance !

Don't let this effect your confidence. There could be 101 reasons why they are trying to get you out of your contract, but the fact that they want you to continue with the work highlights the fact that the reason is not down to the standard of your work. I was canned once by a company over something I had no control over. They just pick a reason they think they can get away with. The agency are 0% useful as they will side with the client in all cases.
Rule Number 1 - Assuming that you have a valid contract in place always try to get your poo onto your timesheet, provided that the timesheet is valid for your current contract and covers the period of time that you are billing for.

          I preferred version 1!

Don't forget Zam, they don't pay you more than 500 quid a day because you are crap.

            Chin up.
I am not qualified to give the above advice!

Zam, if you were tulipe at your job they would have sacked you for that reason. They obviously couldn't find a good reason to get rid of you, so they decided to stitch you up instead.

Take absolutely no notice of what has happened, congratulate yourself on landing an interview tomorrow!!! Wow!!! Thats amazingly soon - you're clearly sought after.

              And good luck

Doesn't sound right to me, are you sure you are telling us the whole story? i.e.

zamzummim : "Oh, I forgot to mention I also sexually assaulted a permie but surely that's no reason for...."

Well I was in a few technical reviews meetings, one of the contractors who calls himself an Technical consultant made some stupid suggestions relating to the data model design, e.g. we should have multiple instances of an entitiy e.g. employee (i.e. have same employee with several IDs in the system) and other laughable suggestions, I didn't laugh, just said that good design principles suggests that each entity should have a unique ID. I know that guy was not happy with me making this comment either, I didn't think twice about that till now, this is because in most roles I go on its normal to discuss design principles, but may be this guy took it personally? not really sure. I should really learn how to keep my mouth shut, can you teach an old dog new tricks?

The guy who interviewed me and hired me (for a different role - but when I arrived on site they told me I am better suited on another role) was quite cheerful today, his attitude was more to congratulate me on managing to escape, he told me not to worry about it, he said if he is able to leave he'd do it too, but with his age (he is retired) its a bit more difficult.

Er, "retired" means you don't work, ever again.

'Tis a consummation devoutly to be wished.

Unless you are leaving something out this is defiantly a "set-up". Classing as "Gross misconduct" sending ANYBODY a list of technical requirements is well, best term I can come up with is a "joke", immaterial if you were asked to do so or not

My recommendation is don't go back, don't do any further work for them (they have already shown themselves to be untrustworthy so unless they pay in advance I would not allow them to increase their "credit line") bill them (or more to case bill agency) and move on.

While it probably means no references I doubt you will be seeing any regardless of what you do

Up to you if you want to pursue it in small claims but if you have given the all the facts here you are pretty guaranteed to win because no judge would accept classing the above scenario as "gross misconduct" as valid
