Bliar: party has failed too often in elections and must ‘redefine what radical means’

Tony Blair: only a complete renewal of Labour will do

Tony Blair says “nothing less than born again head-to-toe renewal will do” for Labour, as members decide who will be the next leader of the party.

The former prime minister – who led Labour from 1994 to 2007 – warned the party needed to have the “mentality of government” and “redefine what radical means” in a speech to mark the 120th anniversary of the founding of the Labour party.

Members are set to vote on who will shape the future of the party with Keir Starmer, Rebecca Long-Bailey and Lisa Nandy battling to take over from Jeremy Corbyn as Labour leader. The result of the contest will be announced on 4 April.

Blair said Labour had always won when it had broadened British politics, secured the centre ground and looked to the future, adding “and yet despite this obviously being true, we have exhibited an extraordinary attachment to retreating into a narrow part of the left which has always ended in defeat”

Too late Tony, Labour are a hostage to Momentum and are doomed to be a student protest movement in perpetuity.

Not if tuition fees go up to £30-50k per year like in USA due to new trade deal to have level playing fields among higher edukation provision...

Tony B. Liar playing Captain Obvious.

You can't have the middle ground and traditional socialism - something will eventually give.

They seem to be working to the motto "woke macht frei" at the moment, with a race to be the most accepting of diverse randomness. The fact that they (a couple of the leadship candidates) are (maybe unwittingly) pledging to put fake trans rights over the safety of women is quite disturbing.
The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world that he didn't exist

If I trusted them to spend the money sensibly and not p--- it up against a wall they would have my vote. For subjects where we have a shortage of qualified people, STEM for example then I don't see why the student should have to pay as society as a whole benefits. But that needs to be thought about holistically with long term planning and penalties for those leaving the country before they have paid back enough into the system.

Labour are just all over the place, they hold too many contradictory views and seem completely out of touch with those who would like to see their fellow man treated better but don't extend benefits and privileges to the entirety of planet earth as that is not feasible.
